I am Marcia, and in November of 2012 I was diagnosed with stage 3 her 2 positive invasive breast cancer with 8 lymph nodes affective. I started chemo in January 2013.
My older sister had a massive stroke on January 3rd. I was counting on her to be with me. Instead, I had to have my treatments and go be with her. She needed me. July 29th I had a double mastectomy to prepare for implants. I was on Herceptin for 1 year, and all pathologists said I was “cancer free.” In July of 2014 I started pumping up my breast and later got my implants. I was very happy.
Jan of 2015 I went to get my eyes checked for new glasses. I was informed by an eye specialist I had a hole in my retina… don’t know how that happened. I had surgery to place a gas bubble behind my eye and laid down in a special chair 6 days and nights to fill the hole. It worked, but it also created a cataract. Once the cataract was removed I was left with 30% vision in left eye. I am also on Femara for 5 years.
After that my crowns started falling out and teeth were pulled. I had to go to a special dentist. I had all my teeth pulled and 8 implants and new bone was made. Took a year, I now have dentures that fit me and I can chew.
It’s been 3 years & 3 months cancer free (radiation too). I am blessed and very lucky to have caught it in time. I BELIEVE I AM A PINK WARRIOR.
