Anyone with cancer knows how emotionally and financially hard it is. Hello, my mother has been fighting cancer for 2 and a half years, she went into remission after having surgery and doing a few rounds of chemo and radiation. The cancer migrated shortly after and since then its been really hard seeing her health decline, she has been working through it this whole time but she is at a point where she cannot work any longer, her job cannot giver her any assistance and the decisions have fallen on me. I never thought at my age (23) I would be trying to figure out how to set up appointments with numerous doctors, trying to learn exactly how to get her assistance all while trying to make her comfortable and not worry about the bills we have.
Dear Abby, as soon as I can I would love to donate to you. I understand what it’s like to be young struggling to take care of your mother. You’re very strong she’s lucky to have you. Even if she doesn’t always tell you. Keep your head high. Don’t ever lose hope.
Hello… My husband was diagnosed with a mixed pheno-type cancer in May. We were sent to Nashville on June 6 and now going on 3 months since we have been away from our home 2 hours away. I lost my job of 8 years due to needing to be here with my husband to care for him. We are now looking at a bone marrow transplant possibly, we purchased a new home in April and are really starting to stress because everything has turned upside down in these past few months. Our families have helped but we can’t depend on them forever.. If there is anything that we can apply for or something we need the assistance! Pride is huge for us but we have to put that aside now… Thank you for any information
I’m currently in a trial treatment at rosewell cancer institute for my first recurrence of ovarian cancer. I haven’t worked in almost 2 years and money is tight. My electricity is in danger of being cut off. I’ve tried a couple different places but the funding is dry. Is there anywhere I can go to help with this? The stress from worrying if our when it will be shut off is taking its toll.

Trying to find out more about financial assistance. We just found out after 3 months of in and out of the hospital, coming up with diabetes, then blood clots in legs and lung, while becoming anemic. Dr’s stumped then in the hospital found she had swollen lymph nodes all over her chest and abdomen. She has undergone 2 biopsies only to find out she has Hodgkins lymphoma. We have to go for pet scan this Thursday and back to John B Amos Friday. All the test hospitals Bill’s has put my Bill’s messed up. I am the only child no family to help taking care of my mom. I’ve tried getting a loan manipulating Bill’s to get everything thing paid and it has me in a jam. Is there any information you can offer?

I am also in the process of packing up and moving. I have no support in my house and need calmness. Say a prayer for me!!! Thanks. I may need some financial help later
I am so disappointed that I did not find this site a mere six days ago!
I was diagnosed with bilateral and metastatic breast cancer 18 months ago at only 43 years old. I have been through two rounds of aggressive chemo and radiation, four surgeries, and just had extensive breast reconstruction 35 days ago — just five days past the criteria deadline!
As I have been unable to work at all for extensive periods or only part time in the past year, I am now in financial crisis. I am losing my decent-paying engineering job, my home, my vehicle, and have been forced to default on student loans (that took nearly 35% of my full time income). I am single with no other sources of income; my life savings and credit accounts are depleted. I am full time caretaker of my disabled mother who is dying of kidney failure. My future is affected because my credit scores are ruined and bankruptcy will not discharge the largest loan accounts.
Needless to say, I feel helpless and destitute, and am still in painful and debilitating recovery for up to several more weeks.
I had no intention of writing such a detailed comment, but it has just come out. I spend all my energy – what little there is – hiding my reality from people because I despise being pitied or thought of as weak. I hid being sick until I could not mask the physical effects any longer.
I must add, however, that I am so grateful for my mother’s church that has helped with food for us recently. Indeed, in spite of everything, there have been occasional small miracles that I cannot overlook. I certainly cannot discount the biggest one of all: I am cancer free today! Perhaps another big miracle will happen to help me out of financial crisis.
And with that, I will stop boring all now and end with this:
To all of you fighting for your lives today, stay strong and positive! You have more strength and power than you think you do. If you have them, allow your family and friends to be of service to you in your time of need by accepting their offers to help. Finally, always be good to others and to yourself!
I am a 65 year old woman with stage 4 cancer. I am in remission and I have been nicely asked to find another place to live. The person I live with has MS and her sister will be moving in to help. I am on a fix income, and looking for a 1bedroom apt. I am blessed to have God with me, but I feel very ALONE and am not sure where to turn. Hopefully someone might have a answer.

I’m not quite sure how to go about this. As most of you can imagine “I’ve never had to face this before”. Anyways, here’s the story. I am a 59 yo man who was just diagnosed with stage3b prostrate cancer. My wife has progressive multiple sclerosis ( perfect storm right?). The medical bills we incur on monthly basis we are able to handle. Surgery and radiation is imminent and I’m going to be out of work for at least 6 weeks. Is this the place to go to ask for help? Does anyone know?
